America's Top Performing Buildings Announced

The Environmental Protection Agency recently announced the list of top energy performing buildings. The 729 buildings with the highest marks, which mostly include office buildings and K-12 schools, earned the right to display the ENERGY STAR label. Last year alone, ENERGY STAR helped businesses and consumers save more than $5 billion in energy costs while reducing green house gas emissions equivalent to those of 10 million cars.

Out of the 729 buildings, 436 were office buildings (204 investor owned; 116 government owned; 116 owner-occupied), 287 were K-12 schools, three were hospitals and three were supermarkets.
