frontline janitors thank you for international cleaning week

International Cleaning Week was March 23-29, 2025. Every year, the week represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the value of clean, honor essential frontline cleaning industry professionals, and raise public awareness about the importance of creating healthy indoor environments for people to live, work, learn, and play. The celebration occurs annually during the last full week of March.

Working with ISSA, Building Professionals of Texas and its President, Bradley Klein, encouraged Mayor John Whitmire to officially recognize March 23-29, 2025, as Cleaning Week in Houston, Texas, in conjunction with International Cleaning Week. Mayor Whitmire signed the official proclamation on March 25th.

Building Professionals of Texas Chief Operating Officer reiterated the importance of raising awareness for the cleaning and facility-solutions industry and letting our government know how important the industry is to our frontline employees as well as the entire workforce in the city as our teams that keep the facilities habitable on a daily basis. Klein would also like to thank the Mayor and City Council on behalf of Building Professionals of Texas, ISSA, and the cleaning and facility-solutions industry in Texas

According to ISSA, cleaned and disinfected surfaces reduce virus concentration by 41.7 percent; when combined with hand hygiene, this increases to 85.4 percent. Additionally, cleanliness reduces instances of absenteeism and presenteeism in the workplace, which negatively impact productivity. Companies lose $8.9 trillion when employees are not fully functioning at work due to illness, injury, or another condition.
