The 2013 Executive Seminar was a dynamic event for Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), allowing attendees to come together with their leadership teams to uncover ways to enhance their businesses, build stronger teams and position their company for growth. This year’s Executive Seminar sold out for the first time in the event’s history with more than 170 attendees making the trip to Nashville, Tennessee, for the two-day gathering.
“This was BSCAI’s most successful Executive Seminar yet,” said Kevin Rohan, CBSE, President of Cavalier Services, Inc. and the 2013 BSCAI President. “Teams left Nashville motivated by the education, strategies and best practices they acquired. The attendance at the event was outstanding. The Executive Seminar continues to grow every year and is quickly becoming an absolute must-attend event for any BSC.”
Education at the event focused on building trust to strengthen leadership and revenue, as well as improving negotiation skills. Jack Kaine of J.W. Kaine, Ltd., kicked off the general sessions and gave a paradigm-shifting presentation on win-win negotiation for success. David Horsager, author of The Trust Edge, gave a two-part presentation on trust, highlighting the critical role that trust plays in your business, with your customers, and ultimately with profitability.
With healthcare reform legislations quickly approaching, Ruthann Laswick of Blue Water Benefits Consulting presented an advanced update on the changes and recent developments that contractors need to be prepared to face. Kevin Rohan, CBSE also announced the development of BSCAI’s Healthcare Reform Toolkit for Contractors. This toolkit provides members of BSCAI will templates, resources and professional insights to keep members informed and assist as they decide how to respond to this legislation.
There were many networking opportunities at the 2013 Executive Seminar, including a casino night reception and a golf tournament that raised funds for the BSCAI Government Affairs Fund. The event was a perfect venue for BSC professionals to collaborate with peers who have the same challenges and goals.
“The Executive Seminar is one of the most important BSCAI events. We were able to support our attendees by providing them an outlet to expand their networks and grow their teams,” said Jill Frey, BSCAI Executive Seminar Chair. “This year’s event not only delivered remarkable business-focused education, it also was an ideal setting to gain insights from up-and-coming executives."
