The Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) has issued a statement regarding the United States Department of Homeland Security’s (DOL) guidance on essential critical infrastructure workers.
BSCAI says the guidance serves as a big victory for the industry and the public at large, as it has argued all along that BSCs and the companies they work with are an asset to both the economy and the response to COVID-19.
"We are pleased to see that the Administration, through the DOL, has agreed with our association and included those who support the building service industry in their definition of essential critical infrastructure workers,” says Chris Mundschenk, executive director of BSCAI. “We made the case that building service contractors are critical to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic through not only making sure critical building functions remain operational, but also because of the vital cleaning and disinfection services our members provide. BSCAI calls on all state and local governments to adhere to the DHS guidance and ensure building service contractors can effectively support the COVID-19 response.”
