Mike Pence standing at a microphone

The American Cleaning Institute joined a number of groups representing businesses in various industries in imploring the federal government to provide concrete guidance on how they should be making the workplace and supply chain safe.

The groups asked Vice President Mike Pence in a letter to facilitate work between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration that would help create this guidance, reports The Hill.

The letter specifically asks that federal regulators establish a concrete number suggesting how many positive tests should take place before a plant shutdown is recommended. The businesses also want to know how manufacturers should be administering COVID-19 tests and how companies should handle visitation from outside groups, such as auditors and truck drivers.

In the letter, the group also complains that no one federal agency is providing clear guidance on these issues.
