For Sante Fe Springs Unified School District in Sante Fe Spings, California,  carpet care is a high priority.

“As much as 85 percent of our schools are carpeted,” says John Shook, the school district's director of facility maintenance and operations. “With this much carpet, we need the most dependable, efficient, and productive portable extractors we can find.”

Evaluating the many extractors available, Shook decided only the King Cobra from U.S. Products has the features and benefits he wants.

“The King Cobra is truly the Mercedes of portable carpet extractors,” he says. “Quality and convenience are everywhere. But two features I really like are the automatic fill and automatic dump system “

The auto-fill/auto-dump system Shook is referring to means the King Cobra can be connected directly to a water faucet with one hose; with a second hose, extracted water and solution are emptied into a drain.

“This means once we get set up, there is no stopping to fill or dump the machine,” says Shook.

Studies indicate that each trip a custodial worker makes to the janitor’s closet to fill and empty a portable extractor takes approximately 15 minutes.

“This really adds up during an eight-hour shift,” says Shook. “Eliminating this task means we get much more work done.”

The other feature Shook likes, the auto-solution feed, mixes cleaning chemicals with water automatically. The dilution is controlled — from .6 ounces per gallon to 14 ounces per gallon using color-coded metering tips. This allows him to pre-spray the proper chemical first and then follow up with neutralizer thru the automatic solution feed saving time and leaving the carpet cleaner.

“The metering tips help us eliminate waste; we use only as much chemical as necessary,” says Shook. “Combine that savings with the increase in productivity, and using the new King Cobra is almost like putting money in the bank.”
