The Canadian Sustainability Conference announced details regarding the upcoming event taking place May 14-15, 2019, at the Toronto Congress Center. More than 1,000 attendees and 100 exhibitors representing businesses and organizations from across North America are expected to attend this year’s conference, which is presented by MCL Green Cleaning Ltd. and its strategic partner, The Infection Prevention Strategy (TIPS).
“We are extremely excited about this year’s conference,” said MCL Sustainable Cleaning Solutions CEO Warren Jacobs. “We believe that the knowledge and insight attendees will gain from a cross-pollination of experts with their diverse experience, expertise, industries, and perspectives will be an eye-opener. Together, we can create a greater sustainable vision for businesses, people, communities, and our planet.”
This year’s conference has been designed to align its focus with the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goals in Health, Sanitation, and Innovation and will help attendees examine technologies, innovations, ideas, and solutions that go “beyond clean” to support businesses, organizations, communities, and Canadians. The 2019 speaker lineup includes:
• Keynote speaker: Craig Kielburger, co-founder of the WE Organizations, social entrepreneur, humanitarian, and New York Times best-selling author
• Jody Steinhauer, entrepreneur, blogger, founder of Bargains Group, Engage and Change, and Kits For A Cause
• JoAnne St. Godard, executive director, Recycling Council of Ontario
• John LaRochelle, infection control specialist, Sodexo Canada
• Marc Saltzman, “tech evangelist,” journalist, author, lecturer, consultant, radio and TV personality
• Christine Greene, MPH, Ph.D., principal investigator for sanitation and contamination control, NSF International
• Jason Tetro, “the germ guy”
• Barley Chironda, infection control expert, The Clorox Corp.
• Many more.
“Sir Richard Branson, who is one of our greatest mentors, once said rock and roll was the coolest thing,” said Kielburger. “Today, it is actually sustainability. It's creating an impact to make this world a better place. We are excited to create a greener, brighter future and hope that you’ll join us at the Canadian Sustainability Conference.”
TIPS Executive Director Michael Diamond believes sustainability is crucial to health.
“Aligning infection prevention with sustainability is critical for healthy facilities,” said Diamond. “TIPS mission of advancing innovations, ideas, and processes that make a difference in global health is perfectly aligned with the Canadian Sustainability Conference. Our team is looking forward to presenting and discussing game-changing innovations that are new to market.”
The annual Canadian Sustainability Conference attracts professionals from across the sustainability industry, including health care, government, facilities management, environmental, sustainability, social responsibility, technology, and business professionals. Participants will be able to learn and see all that is new in cleaning, sanitation, and infection prevention as well as gain new insight into social responsibility and sustainable best practices.
“We’ve changed our name from last year’s highly successful Canadian Cleaning Conference to the Canadian Sustainability Conference,” said Warren. “While our name has changed, our focus remains the same. We continue to deep dive into areas of sustainability that are beyond clean, and even more important and impactful than ever before.”
Registration for the 2019 event is now open and includes access to all speakers, panel sessions, and the trade show floor. This year’s trade show includes more than 100 exhibitors and will help attendees examine and tackle important challenges, improve efficiency, reduce costs, provide a healthier environment, and foster a more sustainable future. In addition, attendees can purchase tickets to attend an evening Gala with entertainment, cocktails, and a moveable feast.
