Two custodians who clean schools at separate corners of the United States are making positive headlines for their sports-themed exploits.
First, we'll start in Arkansas where the players on the state title-winning Greenwood High School football team successfully pleaded for one of their school custodians to be crowned a champion, too. The Bulldogs, who capped off their undefeated 2020 season with the eighth state football title in school history, included custodian Jamie Freeman on the list of people who receive a ring, reports 4029 TV.
A football fan, Freeman was unable to participate in sports when he was in high school because he has cerebral palsy. Donning his impressive championship ring, Freeman told reporters that he hopes the honor is a demonstration of the impact he has on students.
In Ohio, Liberty Benton Middle School Custodian Joe Orians has gained a bit of internet fame after making a no-look, over the head, half court shot as he cleaned the school's basketball court during his shift, reports ABC 30.
Orians' casually told School Principal Kyle Leatherman about the shot in a conversation they were having later. Leatherman didn't believe what he was told, so he checked the footage himself. Sure enough, Orians drilled the long-distance shot on his first attempt and then went about his work.
Impressed by what he saw, Leatherman shared the video on Twitter where it was eventually picked up by numerous websites, including TMZ.
