Large buildings throughout Chicago are making great strides to become green and obtain associated certifications. According to News.com, both the Sears Tower and the Merchandise Mart are the latest in a long list of buildings downtown that incorporate green. In fact, the Sears Tower will become America's tallest building to become green.

Initiatives include green roofs, solar panels, large windows, water conservation, driver/bike services, on-site recycling programs, reduced toxic chemicals and more natural flooring materials.
