The green building sector is booming in the face of depressed housing and construction markets, according to an article on VentureBeat.com.
Last year, the green building industry netted about $12 billion in revenues — and by 2015, those revenues could top $42 billion, according to a recent forecasting report. The report concludes that the greening of the building industry is inevitable, thanks in part to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification programs.
LEED-registered projects may soon make up a quarter of new construction, the report predicts.
