Sealed Air’s Diversey Care division has been awarded the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Seal of Recognition for its Operating Room Procedures and Training Program. While not an endorsement, the Seal of Recognition is confirmation that the Diversey Care Operating Room Procedures and Training Program materials have met the guidelines of the AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices for Environmental Cleaning.
The specific components recognized include Diversey Care’s Operating Room Digital Training modules and step-by-step Procedure Cards for between case, terminal (end of day), and scheduled interim cleaning.
“Cleaning and disinfection of the environment can help reduce the risk of healthcare associated infections (HAIs),” said Carolyn Cooke, Vice President of Healthcare in North America, Diversey Care. “Perioperative nurses rely on healthcare industry representatives to provide them with the products and tools to improve environmental cleaning and disinfection practices in and around the OR. Our goal is to assess the current practices and identify gaps, helping to implement best practices which can improve OR turnover and reduce overall cost.”
"The education program materials submitted by Diversey Care are informative and meet the Association’s standards for excellence in creating a safe environment for patient care," said Lisa Spruce, RN, DNP, ACNS, ACNP, ANP, CNOR, director of evidence-based perioperative practice for the AORN. "Perioperative nurses can be confident in its content."
To assist the perioperative community in selecting quality training activities that promote safety and optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures, AORN has created a directory of materials and activities that have been awarded the AORN Seal of Recognition.
