Cintas Canada has crowned Alberta’s Beaver Hill Shell gas station the 2019 Canada’s Best Restroom winner. The public voted Beaver Hill Shell the best public washroom in the country, earning it the top prize of $2,500 in Cintas products and services to keep its washrooms Ready for the Workday. The washrooms will also be honored with a place in the Canada’s Best Restroom Hall of Fame.
“We’re so grateful for the public’s support to help us earn the title of Canada’s Best Restroom,” said Mo Kabalan, owner and operator, Beaver Hill Shell. “We strive to offer travelers a nice space to relax before getting back on the road and we’re honored to be recognized for the hard work and investment that we put into our washrooms.”
The washrooms at Beaver Hill Shell were designed with the comforts of its customers in mind. Cleanliness is also a top priority. Unlike conventional rest-stops, the washrooms feature luxurious details throughout. Granite countertops are subtly complemented with a herringbone pattern on the floor. Echoing the stall doors and the shelves mounted inside, the mirrors are framed in wood to create a modern yet rustic look. Meanwhile, simple details such as saloon-style doors by the gas-line toilet-paper dispensers make the washrooms stand out.
“The Beaver Hill Shell washrooms create a new rest-stop experience and raise the standard of gas station washrooms, so it’s not surprising that the public voted them number one,” says Candice Raynsford, marketing manager, Cintas Canada. “It’s not often a public washroom turns out to be a highlight from your road trip, but we’re sure travelers from near and far will stop to see these award-winning facilities for themselves.”
Beaver Hill Shell’s engagement throughout the contest played a significant role in driving votes for their facilities. They drove awareness via their social media page as well as participated in several radio, TV and newspaper interviews. In addition, Shell Canada helped Beaver Hill promote the contest through paid media and advertisements. Most importantly, proud employees and caring customers rooted for them, and submitted votes throughout the contest.
Now in its 10th year, the Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom contest shines a spotlight on businesses that go the extra mile to create the most memorable restrooms imaginable. The contest is open to any non-residential restroom in Canada that is accessible to the public.
