The Critical Facilities Summit (CFS), the only event focused exclusively on the design, construction and management of mission critical facilities, will be featuring presenter Joe Kava, vice president of data centers at Google.
Kava will team with Joel Stone, vice president of global data center operations at CenturyLink Technology Solutions and Kristen Vosmaer, principal at CFT Eco & CTS Eco to present “Successful Staffing Strategies for Data Centers.” The program will discuss what it takes to build an effective team and the impact that variables such as corporate culture and geography can have on the hiring and retention process. Kava, Stone and Vosmaer will give insight on how recruiting can — and should — differ in a saturated versus emerging market, where to find staffing resources beyond the military, and how to manage the transition for employees coming over from competitors.
“In the mission critical world, Google often sets the trend for everything from design to cooling to energy efficiency — the same can be said for its approach to recruiting and hiring,” says Wendy Dietzler, director of education for the Critical Facilities Summit. “I’m thrilled Mr. Kava will lend his insights to this timely discussion; I anticipate a valuable information exchange among all the panelists.”
Kava’s currently responsible for engineering, construction management and delivery, critical facility operations, environmental health and safety, as well as sustainability for Google’s global fleet of data centers. Kava has been a staunch advocate for sustainable data centers and cloud computing, sharing his passion about educating the global data center industry so others can benefit from the efficiency best-practices pioneered by Google.
Held September 29th through October 1st at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina, the Critical Facilities Summit is unique as the only event of its kind serving professionals responsible for the design, construction, management and operations of mission critical facilities and data center operations. More than 35 educational sessions provide unparalled insights into best practices in the critical facilities world. In addition, more than 100 suppliers and service providers will be on display in the exhibition hall, demonstrating new products and solutions that improve efficiency, optimize data center performance, improve maintenance functions and boost reliability.
