Carl Solomon Sr. - MBA, CHESP, Director of Hospitality Services, UCSF Medical Center/UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, is the newest addition to the Healthy Facilities Institute Advisory Board.

Carl Solomon Sr. is Director of Hospitality Services, UC San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Centers at Parnassus, Mount Zion, and Mission Bay (opening 02/2015). UCSF is a 655-bed specialty care teaching medical center, and is ranked #7 of the best hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. He manages a Support Services department providing patient transportation, housekeeping, storekeeping, dispatching, and waste stream management. Carl has over 30 years experience in healthcare management and consulting. He previously served as a managing Senior Consultant with Kaiser Permanente National Facilities Services, Oakland, California for seven years, where he provided consulting services to all Kaiser Permanente regions from Hawaii to Georgia. Carl Also served as a team lead on Kaiser Permanente’s National Resource Conservation Team, and was instrumental in the creation of Kaiser Permanente’s first Sustainability Tool Kit. Carl has also worked as a Contract Manager for over nine years with United Health-Serv, Inc. - now Sodexho Marriott Healthcare Management Services.

Carl is a member of the National Sustainability Work Group with The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHA), and sits on the National Advisory Board with The Association for the Healthcare Environment. Carl has published articles in several publications including Health Facilities Management magazine, Executive Insight magazine, and Executive Housekeeping Today magazine.

Carl has a Master’s of Business Administration degree in Management from Golden Gate University-San Francisco, California, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Production and Operations Management from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.
