The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) Educational Center and Website is actively supporting the dissemination of “Green Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Disinfecting: A Toolkit for Early Care and Education” - University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing: San Francisco, California, 2013 - produced by the UCSF Institute for Health & Aging, UC Berkeley Center for Environmental Research and Children's Health, Informed Green Solutions, and the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.

The Toolkit focuses on changing the way professionals clean, sanitize, and disinfect to achieve healthier Early Care and Education (ECE) environments.

“We applaud this effort to make these critical environments cleaner and healthier, prevent sensitive children from being ‘canaries in the mine’ of early-care environments, and to empower program providers and custodial staff with proactive motivation and preventative knowledge,” said Allen Rathey, president of HFI, who also serves on the Informed Green Solutions Advisory Board.

The Toolkit, available on the Informed Green Solutions website, includes comprehensive information about preventing infectious disease by adopting better and more benign forms of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting, while avoiding hazardous products and processes.
