HHI is pleased to expand its educational partnership with AAFA by raising awareness of the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program
In 2006, the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program was created by a team of medical experts and AAFA, the oldest and largest not-for-profit, asthma and allergy patient advocacy organization in the world with the mission to empower consumers to make an informed purchase decision when choosing allergen-avoidance products. The Certification Program independently tests and identifies consumer products that are more suitable for the more than 60 million people in the United States living with asthma and related allergies.
Allen Rathey, president of The Healthy House Institute, says, "We believe this program will help consumers make better choices of products to reduce exposure to allergens and those that may trigger asthma. This is especially true if consumers go beyond just seeing or recognizing a certification logo and become familiar with the tests used by AAFA and its medical partners, and ask questions."
All certification programs undergo continuous improvement over time, and this one is no different. Still, it is encouraging to see companies and organizations raising awareness about this issue through progressively testing and certifying products that may help to reduce exposure.
