Disinfecting in healthcare facilities requires strong chemicals that may be too intense for electronic surfaces. But new products from HP that are designed for healthcare facilities may alleviate these concerns.

A new line of laptops, displays and all-in-one desktop are built to withstand deterioration from being cleaned with germicidal wipes. Being able to properly disinfect a commonly touched surface such as computer keyboards and monitors will help limit the spread of infections. There are approximately 1.7 million healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in U.S. hospitals each year, causing 99,000 deaths.

In addition to sanitization benefits, the laptop allows the user to disable the keyboard and touchscreen while cleaning, so that no information is accidentally entered.
