The Clean Air Excellence Awards Program, established at the recommendation of the Clean Air Act Advisory Committee, periodically recognizes and honors outstanding innovative efforts to help make progress in achieving cleaner air. Nominations for the award are now being accepted.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to recognize innovative and replicable programs, projects, and technologies that directly or indirectly work to reduce emissions of criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants, and greenhouse gases. Award-winning entries must directly or indirectly reduce pollutant emissions, demonstrate innovation, offer sustainable outcomes, and provide a model for others to follow. These projects could involve renewable energy, energy efficiency, combined heat and power, transportation and efficiency, and/or indoor air quality.

There are five categories in which a program, project, or technology may be entered:
• Clean Air Technology
• Community Action
• Education/Outreach
• Regulatory/Policy Innovations
• Transportation Efficiency Innovations
