Like so many others, the hotel industry has struggled because of the business lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To restore the confidence that guests might have lost, a number of well known hotel brands have instituted new cleaning practices. Below is a very brief list of the infection prevention measures hotels have taken, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Probably most well known for its Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand, AccorHotels has teamed up with a health and safety inspection company to create its new ALLSAFE Cleanliness & Prevention campaign. The campaign ensures customers that that all guess restroom and high-touch common areas will be thoroughly cleaned.

Best Western Hotels & Resorts is using its new We Care Clean program at its properties. Developed with advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency, and other experts in mind, the program stresses social distancing, disinfection, reduced front desk and lobby traffic, and grab-and-go meals instead of buffets.

The franchisor of affordable lodging options like Comfort, Quality and Econo Lodge, Choice Hotels has a policy that makes mask wearing mandatory in all public areas. The company also supplies guests with their own hand sanitizer should they request it. Additionally, Choice Hotels is working with Ecolab to better ensure training and infection prevention.

The well known Hilton Worldwide Hotels chain teamed up with Reckitt Benckiser, the maker of Lysol, to create the CleanStay program, which is being used by its brands, such as Hilton Garden Inn, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, and Embassy Suites by Hilton.

The largest hotel giant of them all, Marriott International Hotels requires that each of its hotels are cleaned regularly using hospital-grade disinfectants and electrostatic spraying technology.
