Male janitor suffering from back pain while working

While the general public might now know it, the cleaning industry does — janitors face plenty of injury risks every day they come to work. In an effort to assist, EnvirOx has compiled a list of three things companies can do to help their janitors every day.

First and foremost, it is imperative that every janitor hired is put through a strong training program. Not only does good training make workers more likely to succeed and be happy with their job, it makes them much less likely to suffer an injury.

One of the most common causes of workplace injury is the use of poor equipment. Janitors giving tools that don’t work right or do not fit their body type face the risk of injury. Solve this by supplying lighter, more ergonomic equipment.

Lastly, employers should supply workers with products that don’t feature harsh chemicals when possible — and train them how to use those products. Products with lower volatile organic compounds or products that are green certified tend to be better options.
