IEHA has announced that its new and updated “Communications Module” will be available in the Summer of 2013.
“The future of proper training, recognition and pay for facility staff will be determined largely by ‘communicators’”, said Beth Risinger, IEHA CEO and Executive Director. “That is why we are proud to update this innovative Communications Module for our members and the cleaning community.”
The IEHA Communications Module is designed to help professionals gain new knowledge and skills that enable them to communicate effectively, interpersonally, in groups, in writing, and by using technology. The module explores communication theory as it relates to organizations and individuals, and provides practical assistance to managers and potential managers as they strive to communicate vital information both within and outside their organizations.
The new Communications Module consists of five units:
• Unit 1 explores the nature of communication — what it is and how it often operates in an organization. It also explores miscommunication and how employees prefer to obtain their information.
• Unit 2 looks at interpersonal communication. It emphasizes skills in building trust, listening, response styles and feedback.
• Unit 3 focuses on leading meetings, offers specific help in planning and leading several types of meetings, and includes tips for handling “problem” participants, gaining participation, problem-solving and overcoming common meeting complaints.
• Unit 4 examines presenting oral and written information including helpful instruction to enable crisp, professional, high impact communication.
• Unit 5 looks at technology, emphasizing fundamentals in choosing technologies and associated capabilities.
