Beth Risinger, Executive Director of IEHA and Allen Rathey, President of the Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) have been selected to serve on the ISSA Clean Standard: K-12 Stakeholder Committee comprised of more than 60 organizations tasked with reviewing the work of the 27-member Clean Standard Development Committee, as well as to provide input and feedback on various draft versions of the standard.

The Clean Standard for K-12 schools - the first science-based cleaning standard - will promote clean and healthy indoor environments in educational facilities across the nation to the benefit of children's learning experiences.

"It is a privilege to serve on this committee of such noteworthy individuals and organizations dedicated to helping make schools cleaner and healthier," said Beth Risinger, IEHA's Executive Director and CEO. "We are excited to see this ground-breaking Clean Standard reaching the final stages of development, and are honored to be reviewing it and providing input."

"The K-12 Clean Standard is one of the most important developments in our industry to come along in many years, and it is a privilege to be asked to be involved and to comment on its final development," said Allen Rathey, President of HFI.

According to ISSA, the Stakeholder Committee provides an added layer of review to ensure the standard is actionable and easily implemented by cleaning service providers and that it achieves the goal of cleaner and healthier educational facilities.

A 27-member Development Committee comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders from the educational, facilities management, and cleaning industries will review the research data and specify quantitative and qualitative levels of cleaning acceptable in the standard. The committee will also specify measurement methods and the management and technical skills necessary to implement the standard. The Clean Standard: K-12 will be performance-oriented (i.e., focused on results) and nonprescriptive (i.e., not favoring any particular cleaning products or processes).
