The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has announced that its Standards Director, Mili Washington, was selected to serve as Secretary for the Society for Standards Professionals (SES) Board of Directors.

“Throughout her time at the IICRC, Washington has continuously displayed professionalism, leadership ability and a vast knowledge of standards,” says Patrick Winters, IICRC president. “We are proud to have Mili be so active in the development of the industry.”

The SES is a professional organization for those in the standards industry, whose mission is to provide opportunities for professional development through programs and services and to promote awareness, use and value of standards and conformity assessment.

“I'm honored to have been chosen for this leadership role within SES, and am looking forward to contributing actively and to growing my knowledge as a standards professional,” says Washington.

Washington has been the standards director at the IICRC since June 2011. Her focus has been to streamline the standards development process and strategy at the IICRC, work toward American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approval for new and revised ANSI/IICRC standards, and use more digital tools to make virtual collaboration come to life.

For the past seven years, Washington has focused her work in the area of standards development and management. In her previous role as manager of standards and guidelines for the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), she oversaw three ANSI accredited standards committees that developed 20 ANSI standards for the occupational health and safety profession.

Washington is a member of SES and is certified as an Associate Standards Professional. She graduated with a Master’s degree from George Washington University in Environmental and Resource Policy after completing a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Delhi University in New Delhi, India. In addition, Washington is the Committee Chair for the SES Leadership Development Committee and the SES Rules and Resolutions Committee, as well as an active participant in ANSI Committees.
