ISS announced the re-signing of the Armed Forces Covenant. At an event at ISS’s London office this week, the re-signing was celebrated with an acknowledgement of the responsibility to recognize the contributions of our Armed Forces, of past, present and future generations. ISS was delighted to welcome senior military attendees from the Ministry of Defence, who spoke about their experiences at the event.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise to acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society that they serve with their lives. As a signatory of the Covenant, ISS pledges to:
• Promote the Armed Forces
• Support veterans, reserves and cadet organizations, as well as support for service spouses and partners
• Recognize national events, including supporting Armed Forces Day and Remembrance activities
• Raise awareness for Armed Forces Charities
Speaking at the event, vice admiral Andy Kyte, chief defence Logistics and Support and chief naval logistics officer, said:
“It’s great to visit organizations like ISS that are creating pathways and opportunities for our Armed Forces community. Ex-service personnel value this recognition, and this reaffirmation of that commitment through the Armed Forces Covenant is really important.”
In addition to signing the Armed Forces Covenant, ISS is also proud of its JointForcesISS program, which helps service leavers and their spouses to transition into civilian careers seamlessly and successfully, with support specially curated for the needs of the military community.
Martin Burholt, chief operating officer for Government, Healthcare and Education, said:
“At ISS, we are proud to honor our Armed Forces community by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Today’s event showcases our ongoing commitment to acknowledging the dedication of those in the military, and we were privileged to mark the occasion in the company of such esteemed guests."
