Janitors with the Cincinnati, Ohio branch of SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, agreed to give their bargaining committee the power to call for a strike, according to reports from WCPO.com. The possible strike would result in an estimated 1,200 janitors leaving their jobs to let building occupants clean up after themselves.
According to the article, negotiations began in March and various members of the community have stepped up to support the janitors in their quest for higher wages and healthcare benefits.
The vote doesn't confirm a strike, but gives the union's bargaining committee another option during negotiations.
