The friends and family of a military veteran and public school custodian who died in 2020 from COVID-19 related complications recently gathered in his memory.

Greg Peterson was honored at a celebration at the Omaha National Cemetery in Nebraska, reports KETV. Before his death, Peterson was a member of the American Legion Post 374 and a janitor for Millard Public Schools in southwest Omaha.

The post's commander told reporters that Peterson loved his family and motorcycles and liked playing cribbage. He was also known for his IT talents.

Dozens attended the celebration of life, which involved military honors.
