Plus Manufacturing, Inc. maker of soap-free, hypo-allergenic, non-toxic PROCYON products, has announced that Lathrop High School, Lathrop, California, has been awarded the PROCYON Healthy Carpet Care Award.
Lathrop High School, home of the Spartans - and part of the Manteca Unified School District, near Stockton, serving more than 23,000 students - will receive a $500 check earmarked for school supplies, in recognition of the high school’s multi-year commitment to healthier soap-free carpet cleaning.
“The PROCYON Healthy Carpet Care Award is our way of acknowledging users of PROCYON who have made a commitment to a better way of cleaning with healthier outcomes,” said Ivan Day, President of Plus Manufacturing, Inc. maker of PROCYON, the first product to be certified under the revised Green Seal GS-37 environmental cleaning product standard.
According to Bob Grasso, principal of Grasso Carpet Cleaning, whose company has been using PROCYON soap-free products for 30 years and advising Lathrop High for the last several:
“The process at Lathrop High using soap-free PROCYON Extreme and low moisture encapsulation followed by extraction is a game-changer. It’s the best system we have found because it is fast, does not leave sticky residues or excess moisture and dries quickly, preventing mold or bacterial growth.”
This makes the process healthier. According to Lathrop High School’s principal, Dr. Mike Horwood, “We clean for health. We believe in using proven processes and products to protect the health of our students and staff.”
Praise from the Lathrop faculty has been gratifying. “I have had several teachers tell me they appreciate how clean the carpets are,” said Dr. Horwood.
Head custodian Ray Hicks says: “The soap-free process produces great results in less time than before, and we have received many compliments from teachers about the better appearance and color of our carpet.”
According to Bob Grasso, using a counter-rotating brush machine for application and agitation enables quick effective cleaning using very little water. Carpets also do not suffer from “wicking” or rapid resoiling.
The soap-free process, while heavy on performance, is light on the wallet. “Being on limited budgets, we are always looking for more cost-effective and efficient products that will help save money. This has been a great fit,” said Horwood. “The PROCYON is cheaper and better than anything else we have used,” added Hicks.
“We are very gratified to receive this award,” said Dr. Horwood.
