According to the World of Building Service Contracting, a survey of infection prevention and control professionals conducted by The Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) revealed that MRSA rates are eight times higher than previously estimated. Today, MRSA accounts for over 60 percent of Staphylococcus aureus infections, a staggering increase over the two percent of all Staphylococcus aureus infections reported in 1972. In addition, the study found the death rate from MRSA infections is more than 2.5 times higher than non-MRSA infections.
