As seen in the Lansing State Journal.

From nurses to janitors to supervisors, the State Journal is posting a database of the salaries of more than 53,000 state employees — nearly all except political appointees and some other top officials. The information was provided by the Department of Civil Service earlier this month.

At a time when the state is facing severe budget problems, spending of taxpayer dollars is under increased scrutiny. The State Journal is providing readers with access to information that is public but not readily available.

The database can be searched by name, position, department or city of employment. You will get information on the salary as well as date of hire.

Click on the name and you'll get more detailed information about their job.

This information is interesting to track as the trend throughout Michigan is to outsource janitorial departments in an effort to save money.
