Midlab Inc.’s Athens, Tennessee facility has been awarded LEED’s Gold certification, the cleaning chemical manufacturer announced in a statement.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is one of the most prestigious green building rating system in the world.
“At Midlab, we truly believe in our “Everything Clean” philosophy and the positive affect sustainable business practices have on our environment,” says Matt Schenk, Midlab CEO and president. “As the only cleaning chemical manufacturer in the country with a 100 percent LEED-certified facility, we take our commitment to environmental responsibility very seriously and have put in years of hard work to ensure we’re being the best we can as a company.”
Midlab achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
“Midlab’s LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership,” says Mahesh Ramanujam, CEO and president of USGBC. “LEED was created to revolutionize our buildings and communities by providing everyone with access to healthy, green, and high-performing buildings. Midlab is a prime example of how the innovative work of project teams can create local solutions that contribute to making a global difference.”
