Morcon Tissue was recognized during National Small Business Week at the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 21st Annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon in Albany on Tuesday, May 7th. Winners are selected based on their sales growth, community involvement, longevity, increased employment, and innovation, among other attributes. Morcon Inc., owned by Joe Raccuia, was honored to receive a 2019 Small Business Excellence Award from nominator The 504 Company.
“Joe and his team have transformed Morcon Tissue since acquiring the company in 2013, growing both revenues and margins as well as creating good paying U.S. manufacturing jobs in rural areas,” said presenter Ross Pancoe, The 504 Company senior vice president.
“Morcon has more than doubled its business over the past five years. An integral part of this growth has been the outstanding support we received from the U.S. Small Business Administration. This partnership, along with the support of The 504 Company and TD Bank, has propelled us to new heights. We are grateful for this recognition,” said Joe Raccuia, Morcon, Inc. owner.
Morcon Tissue has enjoyed four record months of financial results thus far in 2019. In order to continue this growth, Morcon is making additional strategic investments to position Morcon for the future. These investments include, a new manufacturing facility in Upstate NY, a larger corporate HQ in Upstate NY, a third manufacturing facility in Tulsa, OK, as well as additional converting capacity to support customers on a national platform.
