National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer issued the following statement welcoming the creation of the White House Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force and other actions to address vulnerabilities in critical product supply chains:
“The U.S. is facing severe disruptions across many of our critical supply chains and today’s actions from the White House will help bolster them in the long term. However, immediate action is needed to ensure that Americans can continue to receive the products they rely on every day and the scope of these efforts must be broadened to provide immediate reinforcement of the U.S. chemical supply chain.
"Inventories of chemicals have been falling, something that last occurred during the great recession and supply chain delays could soon lead to shortages. The chemical distribution industry that NACD represents processes, formulates, blends, re-packages, warehouses, and transports chemicals used in nearly every industry sector. Without additional action, consumers may be facing shortages and will pay more for the same products when they can least afford to do so.”
