Brian Wild, chief government relations officer at the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), released the following statement on the federal court decision to block the FTC’s ban on non-complete agreement:
“The FTC’s ban on non-compete agreements does not serve the interests of businesses, workers, or consumers and we commend the Court for blocking it until a final decision is made. The NAW Legal Policy Center, alongside ten other trade associations, filed an amicus brief in May supporting the lawsuit against this ban, arguing that the FTC’s proposal relies on cherry picked data and oversteps its authority. There is substantial evidence that non-compete agreements are beneficial — they enable employers to invest in their workforce, protect sensitive business information, and maintain vital business relationships.”
