Hopewell Valley Regional School District officials, seeking sustainability certification, have introduced a new policy that calls for green cleaning products to be used by the maintenance staff, according to an article on the Central Jersey website.

The "Green and Healthy Schools Cleaning Policy," will earns points for the school district toward gaining Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification.

The Sustainable Jersey for Schools program is aimed at public school districts that want to go green and conserve resources.

The intent of the policy is to reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and to reduce environmental pollution by requiring the purchase and use of green cleaning products.
