For the first time in four years, Baltimore is not the bed bug capital of the United States, as Washington, D.C. topped Orkin’s annual list ranking the 50 American cities most heavily inhabited by the blood-sucking pests.
Orkin compiled its “2020 Top Bed Bug Cities” list using data gathered during residential and commercial bed bug treatments in American cities.
While Baltimore finally escaped the dreaded top honors, it doesn’t have much reason to celebrate. Charm City fell to just number 2 on the list. The other three cities rounding out Orkin’s top five for 2020 are Chicago, Los Angeles and Columbus, Ohio, respectively.
Las Vegas might have been the biggest “winner” among those listed, as its ranking of 47 was seven spots lower than it faired in 2019. On the other end of the spectrum is Champaign, Illinois, which rose seven spots to 16 on the list. Two new cities joined the list: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Toledo, Ohio.
