The Newell Rubbermaid Global Headquarters in Atlanta has been designated a BOMA 360 Performance Building by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International. The BOMA 360 Performance Program validates and recognizes commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in building operations and management.

Newell Rubbermaid was able to achieve this recognition as a result of utilizing solutions from its Rubbermaid Commercial Products brand for washroom solutions, material handling and recycling products, and green cleaning solutions, improving worker well-being, green practices and sustainability.

“It was exciting to take the general practices we already had in place and connect them to the BOMA 360 benchmarks.  Solutions from our Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP) brand enabled us to achieve our goal of being recognized for “outstanding management practices,” said Calvin Lower, Senior Manager, Property & Construction, Newell Rubbermaid.  “RCP plays a significant role in our efficiency as it relates to environmental and sustainability efforts with solutions for our single stream recycling program, as well as automatic water faucets, flush valves and consumables in the restrooms to conserve water and avoid waste. Additionally, we use Rubbermaid Commercial green products and cleaning equipment for our Green Cleaning program like the HYGEN Clean Water System.”

The program evaluates properties in six major areas:  building operations and management; life safety/security/risk management; training and education; energy; environment/sustainability; and tenant relations/community involvement.  The Newell Rubbermaid global corporate headquarters building has many influential practices in place including a Waste Management & Recycling Program, Indoor Air Quality Program, Green Cleaning Program, Water Management, Building Energy Management Plan, Corporate Sustainability Policy and Traffic Reduction Program.

In addition to these property management practices, Newell Rubbermaid operations staff are emergency response certified, its facility professionals participate in training programs, and are active in professional membership groups including BOMA, the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Home Ownership Participation for Everyone (HOPE) and CoreNet.

“We are proud to designate the Newell Rubbermaid Global Headquarters as a BOMA 360 Performance Building in recognition of the high standards the management team has achieved in every aspect of building operations and management,” said BOMA International Chair Ray H. Mackey, Jr., RPA, CPM, CCIM, partner and chief operating officer, Stream Realty Partners, L.P.  “By achieving the BOMA 360 designation for your building, you demonstrate to your owners, tenants, prospective tenants and the community that your property is being managed to the highest standards of excellence."

The BOMA 360 Performance Program takes a holistic approach to evaluating a building’s operations and management and benchmarks a building’s performance against industry standards.
