OpenWorks, a national facilities management company, created a new role within its leadership team as part of its ongoing commitment to customer care. Mitchell Lawrie is joining OpenWorks as the Vice President of Supply Chain Management. In addition to his primary focus on the company’s supplier network, he will be working closely with the Sales and Operations teams to identify areas of customer need that could augment OpenWorks’ existing portfolio of facility management services.

Mitch will also be instrumental in developing resources that allow us to grow our offerings, such as expanding our landscaping service to the host of other facility management services we currently provide.”

OpenWorks, founded in 1983, has seen rapid growth in recent years, in part due to the pandemic that has spurred businesses and other public facilities to place unprecedented priority on advanced cleaning and disinfecting measures. Since the outset of the pandemic, OpenWorks has worked diligently to maintain steady access to essential equipment and supplies despite transportation and other disruptions being experienced across numerous industries. At the same time, OpenWorks has made it a priority to keep tabs on developments in state-of-the-art cleaning technology that it can share with customers, including the use of electrostatic technology and broad-spectrum hard surface disinfectants that are proven effective against viruses like COVID-19.

No stranger to newly formed roles, Mitch previously worked for the Department of Defense as its first Director, Transformation and Reform. While there, he led four organizations within the Pentagon in optimizing enterprise-wide business operations and was awarded the Medal for Exceptional Public Service from the Secretary of Defense in 2020 for his service in this civilian role. The financial savings validated by the DoD CFO for the two and a half years Mitch served in his role exceeded $43 billion across the four military branches and other Department of Defense agencies. Mitch’s prior leadership experience also encompasses leadership positions with high-profile organizations including Vixxo, Shamrock Foods, Six Sigma Qualtec and Avnet.
