The nonprofit 501c3 Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools (PC4HS) group has announced support for ISSA’s Cleaning Industry Training Standard (CITS), encouraging the more than 250 schools now implementing PC4HS – and a growing list of participating universities and K-12 schools being added monthly – to develop PC4HS custodial training programs that can be accredited under CITS in the context of the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS).

“We support the CITS standard as a quality framework for the training of school operations personnel in applying healthier, standardized and affordable methods as part of a proven, repeatable PC4HS program,” said Rex Morrison, president of PC4HS.  “We are pleased to see both general training requirements and those specific to schools as part of CITS guidelines.”

Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools is a two-stage program, including an assessment phase and an implementation phase.  The implementation stage is a key aspect where CITS applies, among others.

“We are impressed that CITS universally embraces Frontline Cleaning Professionals, Supervisors & Managers, Manufacturers & Distributors, and Industry Trainers; and that approved facilities can become official CITS Training Centers,” noted Morrison. “We look forward to getting actively involved with this program.”
