Profiles Of The Oldest LEED Certified Buildings In The U.S.

New certifications aren’t just for new construction. Sometimes, minor changes made to the interior of facilities can make a big difference in terms of sustainability. This was definitely the case for some very old facilities.

BisNow.com recently highlighted 11 of the oldest buildings in the U.S. that achieved LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). According to the findings, 11 facilities built between 1842 and 1912 have all altered their interiors in an effort to preserve energy and water, while also improving indoor air quality and creating safer work environments.
