Cintas Corporation would like to shine a spotlight on those who work behind the scenes year-round to make schools a clean, safe and positive place. On Sept. 9, Cintas launched its first Janitor of the Year contest to recognize the best-of-the-best amongst elementary, middle and high school janitors.

The winner of the contest will be crowned on Dec. 12 and receive a $2,500 cash prize. The school will also receive $2,500 in products and services.

"Having great school janitors can lead to healthier students and healthier employees," said Dave Mesko, Senior Director of Marketing and Strategy. "Janitors not only improve the well-being of students and staff, but many go above and beyond their daily work to make schools a better and safer place to learn and work."

The Janitor of the Year contest is open to all elementary, middle and high school janitors who have worked at their school for at least two years. Nominations must be 1000 words or less on why the janitor is deserving of the award.

Nominations will be accepted online at www.cintas.com/janitoroftheyear and via e-mail at janitoroftheyear@cintas.com through Oct. 30. The submissions will then be narrowed down to the top 10 finalists and open to public voting until the winner is announced on Dec. 12.
