The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is mourning the loss of F. Quinn Stepan, the longtime Chairman, President and CEO of Stepan Company who is regarded as a chemical and cleaning product industry icon.
Mr. Stepan passed away on May 13, 2024.
Quinn Stepan was a former chairman of the Board of Directors of The Soap and Detergent Association — the previous name of ACI — and served on the Board for seven years. Mr. Stepan was the recipient of the association’s 2010 Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award, which honors extensive and exceptional service and leadership within the association and the industry at-large.
“The American Cleaning Institute expresses its deepest condolences to Quinn Stepan’s family and friends and all of those employees — past and present — of Stepan Company who knew and respected him,” says Melissa Hockstad, ACI president and CEO. “Quinn helped build Stepan Company into a global powerhouse within the surfactants and chemical industries. The company has been and remains a mainstay of ACI activities and the throughout our supply chain. “We know how important family was to Quinn as well as the friends and community around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.”
