Janitors marched near the Statehouse in Providence, R.I., in an effort to garner higher pay and more sick time, according to Eyewitness News WPRI.
Some 12,000 contract janitors are negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with the Maintenance Contractors Association of New England. Their current contract ends this month.
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) claims the janitors are being offered a 10-cent raise and no increase in sick days from the two the contracted employees currently are allowed.
