SMS Assist today announced Michael McMath as vice president of client services for the Chicago-based technology-driven facilities maintenance and management company. McMath previously held senior positions at retail giant Wal-Mart, global aluminum producer Alcoa and multinational food and support services company Compass Group.  
 
McMath, 56, brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in corporate-level facilities management, contracting and procurement to his new position. He effectively managed annual maintenance budgets of more than $1 billion while working at three leading public companies, where he designed and implemented innovative cost savings plans that included inventory reduction, labor efficiency programs and process redesign initiatives.

McMath holds graduate degrees in Industrial Management and Program Management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, from Florida State University. He held the rank of Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army, where he served as Deputy Director of Contingency Contracting for the XVIII Airborne Corps and led international disaster recovery teams for the Department of Defense.
