Set to host the 2025 Final Four in men’s college basketball, the Alamodome in San Antonio doesn’t appear to be shutting down anytime soon after to recent restoration and cleanup efforts were approved by the city. As reported by the San Antonio Current, the city approved a significant mold cleanup initiative that will cost $1.2 million.
The Alamodome has over three decades of hosting notable sporting events and teams such as the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs and XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas. Just a few weeks ago, the city approved an upgrade renovation projected valued at $29 million dollars. The additional mold cleanup comes in the wake up significant water damage to roughly 3,200 square feet of ceiling.
Cotton Commercial USA, a cleaning contractor based in Houston, won the bidding war to complete the mold removal in an agreement that was signed last week. Additional reports indicate that more investments into the facility are expected in the future, although nothing new has since been announced.
