Healthy Green Schools & Colleges, a partnership between the Healthy Schools Campaign and Green Seal, is in the process of creating the first national standard for healthy and sustainable school facilities. The science-based standard is geared toward K-12 school districts and higher education institutions and designed to be accessible for schools across the spectrum, whether they are just getting started exploring environmental health and sustainability improvements or are already a leader.
The current version of the standard incorporates the feedback submitted during the first public comment period in June and includes the point system that will be used as the basis for certification and promotes continuous improvement.
This standard is developed through an open and transparent process that includes extensive stakeholder outreach and opportunities for public input. The public comment period is now open. View the standard here and submit comments to standard@healthygreenschools.org by October 22, 2021.
