Researchers have developed a device that can be added on to a soap dispenser to encourage people to wash their hands for the recommended 20 seconds.
Developed by researches at Lovely Professional University in Punjab, India, "20Sec4Life" is IoT enabled and is intended to be mounted to any liquid soap dispenser, reports Deccan Herald. Once a person dispenses soap to begin washing their hands, the device will start to glow and play music for 20 seconds. When it stops, that person knows that they can stop washing their hands.
Their are four different prototypes of 20Sec4Life. The most advanced model actually gives a person detailed directions on how to wash their hands so that they know they're carrying out the process correctly. That version of the device can also be connected to Wi-Fi and can be paired with a phone via an app.
