Investing further in sustainable food, Sodexo in Sweden acquired the corporate restaurant group K-märkt, known for its high-quality, tasty food and innovative methods for enhancing sustainability and reducing food waste. K-märkt restaurants are currently situated at six locations in Stockholm, with an objective to expand to more cities in Sweden together with Sodexo.
K-märkt’s sustainable food model is based on a strong supply chain network which makes it possible to source food products that otherwise would have been wasted. One result of this is the “Chef’s Choice" concept, where meals are created using the food available each day rather than offering set menus.
This acquisition in Sweden is part of Sodexo's broader ambition to become the leader in sustainable food. Aligned with this ambition, Sodexo is undertaking a gradual yet profound transformation of its food operations worldwide.
“We are driving change by how we source and cook food, what we offer to our consumers, and how we manage waste. At Sodexo we develop creative and plant-forward menus and work successfully to reduce food waste. With the acquisition of K-märkt, we will continue to upgrade and upscale our existing food offers in Sweden and make sustainable food available to more people,” says Peter Mellin, CEO of Sodexo in Sweden.
“Sodexo shares our goals to change the way food is produced and how we eat. With Sodexo, we can grow and explore new opportunities for K-märkt bringing far more sustainable meals to the table than we would have been able to on our own. And at the same time, we will continue to focus on what we do best — serving tasty and sustainable meals,” adds Jens Dolk, Co-founder and CEO of K-märkt’s.
