During National Handwashing Awareness Week, members of the jan/san industry are stressing the importance of practicing healthy hygiene habits.
They found that number one factor that Americans can control to avoid the spread of disease is handwashing, yet only 31 percent of Americans consider handwashing to be a “necessary hassle,” according to a survey conducted by SCA. Fortunately, survey responses revealed that basic restroom upgrades such as touches faucets and soap dispensers can encourage handwashing in public buildings.
In fact:
• 58 percent of respondents said hands-free soap dispensers encourage washing
• 61 precent of respondents said clean, tidy restrooms encourage them to want to wash their hands
• 58 percent of respondents said paper towels for drying their hands encourages washing
• 61 percent of respondents said hands-free faucets encourage washing
