American tariffs and US government taxation or punative tariff trade war policy or duties imposed on imports and exports on imported or exported goods as Protectionism as a 3D illustration

Since early March, the Trump administration has pushed for increased tariffs with both Mexico and Canada. At the same time, an increase in tariffs on Chinese goods also went into effect. The response from Canada was to impose a levy on imported goods and the European Union announced retaliatory tariffs. In response, President Trump announced that effective April 2 he will implement "reciprocal tariffs" on imports that are consistent with the levies other countries charge U.S. manufacturers for exports.

These tariffs could impact the jan/san market by increasing the cost of manufacturing and the purchase of products, whether they are manufactured in the U.S. or not. They could also result in supply-chain disruptions, which could further drive up pricing of limited goods.
