Three janitorial services and supply companies have merged to create a new entity that will meet the needs of government, small business and Fortune 500 clients with a range of critical environment janitorial cleaning, sustainable MRO, green cleaning, and post-construction cleaning “final clean” services that help facilities comply with LEED requirements.

The new company, Preferred Service Group LLC (PSG), combines the supply chain and client management expertise of Facility Supply Group (FSG) with the grassroots, janitorial services operational expertise of Kearny, N.J.-based Preferred Building Services, Inc. and Kenilworth, N.J.-based Eastern Janitorial Services. While all three will continue to operate as stand-alone companies, virtually all FSG clients will now be serviced by PSG.

Like FSG (a Tier 1 and Tier 2 diversity supplier), PSG will allow its customers to comply with diversity purchasing goals and share in cost-saving best practices developed over two-plus decades. In addition, the new firm’s environmentally sustainable MRO products can help its governmental clients support Energy and Environmental Block Grant programs for energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emission reductions.

PSG is currently pursuing certification to ISSA’s CIMS-GB (Cleaning Industry Management Standard-Green Building) program, which ensures that cleaning organizations use environmentally preferable cleaning practices and products in line with the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EBOM) system. Preferred Building Services, Inc. currently holds the CIMS-GB certification with honors.

“From green janitorial services and MRO supplies to an array of other specialty services, PSG will offer everything businesses and institutional facilities need to keep their operations running smoothly, while simplifying and streamlining the procurement process and complying with environmental sustainability initiatives,” says John W. Fowler, CEO and President, PSG; and CEO and Chairman of FSG.

Joining Fowler on the PSG executive team are Frank Hernandez, President of Preferred Building Services, who will serve as PSG’s Chief Operating Officer, and Brad Weiner, President of Eastern Janitorial Services, who will serve as PSG’s Chief Financial Officer.

“By combining these three business entities and maintaining a hands-on approach to customer service, we strive to develop long-term customer relationships founded on integrity and quality products and services,” Hernandez says.

“The three companies share a mutual dedication to developing partnerships based on trust, and solutions based on value, cost controls and efficiencies,” adds Weiner.
